MultiFlo™ FX is an automated reagent dispenser for 6- to 1536-well microplates. Its unique Parallel Dispense™ technology allows up to four independent reagents to be dispensed in parallel without potential carryover. What makes MultiFlo FX “multi-mode” is its configurability: you can add a wash module or the RAD™ module, for random access individual well dispensing and bulk dispensing larger wells. Everything you need for fast, intuitive programming and operation is available through the color touchscreen. MultiFlo FX configured with either the wash module or RAD technology replaces up to five liquid handlers in a single compact platform.

The MultiFlo FX extensive onboard software, accessed through the convenient touchscreen interface. With an intuitive menu-driven interface. Program all aspects of the system’s dispense, wash and maintenance parameters, quickly and easily.
LHC
LHC Software allows computer-based programming of multi-step processes and it is used for integrating BioTek’s multi-mode washer dispensers, washers and dispensers into robotic systems. You can operate the system under computer control via LHC, or create protocols in LHC and download to the instrument for recall and execution.

Spheroidal 3D cell culture is increasingly common for many research areas as it better mimics the in vivo environment. It can be challenging to perform media exchanges and washes without accidental cell structure loss.
BioTek’s patent-pending AMX™ module for the MultiFlo™ FX enables gentle automated media exchange to protect and encourage proliferation of spheroids, tumoroids and other 3D cell structures, 2D and suspension cells in microplate-based assays The AMX module uses both peristaltic pumps, one to dispense and one to aspirate media from the plate wells.
The software operates the pumps slowly and gently so cells and cell structures aren’t disturbed during the media exchange, and the x-y-z positions for the aspirate and dispense tubes are adjustable to avoid contact, etc with cell structures in the wells.
Multi-mode dispensing can replace up to four dispensers and a washer
Providing unsurpassed liquid handling flexibility, MultiFlo FX’s modular base can accommodate 1 or 2 peristaltic pumps, a 2-syringe pump module and a wash module or a single channel dispense. MultiFlo FX takes the place of multiple instruments, but is compact and very simple to use.
Parallel Dispense™ technology: peristaltic and/or syringe pumps
Peristaltic pumps and syringe pumps each offer benefits; peri-pumps help save precious reagent, while syringe pumps are fast and precise. MultiFlo FX can be configured with 2 peri and 2 syringe pumps, allowing up to four reagents to be dispensed in parallel, without carryover.
RAD™ technology for dispensing to individual wells
When the liquid handling workflow calls for individual well dispensing along with rapid bulk dispensing, MultiFlo FX can handle it. The unique RAD module provides single channel dispensing to discrete wells of a 48-, 96- or 384-well plate. For rapid single channel dispensing to 6- to 24-well plate, the 8-to-1 RAD cassette is perfect for the task.
Cost savings through low prime volume and single tube access
With programmable prime volumes, backflush capability and the unique single tube access with RAD, you’ll save on costly reagents for all your dispensing processes.
Cell friendly angled dispense and/or wash tubes won’t disrupt cell layers
For sensitive cell-based assays, the dispense tips on the MultiFlo FX dispense manifolds and wash manifolds are angled, allowing gentle reagent dispense down the well sides. This helps keep cell layers intact, even through multiple-step operations.
Walkaway automation with BioStack 4 or BioSpa 8 for lidded or unlidded plates
Integration BioStack to MultiFlo FX allows automated processing of multiple plates at a time, without manual intervention. MultiFlo FX integrated to BioSpa 8 adds automated media exchange and reagent addition to automated live cell workflows.
